A 1700s Georgian Tortoiseshell Gold & Silver Inlay, Card / Cigarette Case
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:16029216 | Style: Georgian |
An outstanding item of beauty that has survived its probable 250 plus years remarkably well
A Georgian card or ciggarello case made of tortoiseshell having a beautiful intricate inlay design of gold, silver and mother of pearl to the top front.. All inlay pieces are present and I see no damage... The case opens and closes as it should and there is no play on the hinges.. slight lift on l...ower case which by the looks of it probably occurred more than 100 years ago but is strong and sturdy and quite unnoticeable.... The back case has a fine inlay of silver running around the edge... Inside is lined with fine cerise watershot silk taffeta.. Ornately finished and hand stitched compartments to stow cards or ciggarellos or both..
A good large Size 139.6mm long.. 72.4mm wide and depth of 25.9mm...
An amazingly beautiful piece of history

Please be aware most of the jewellery I sell is antique and vintage. It dates from the 1700s to roughly 1970s .. It will not come to you as new no matter how good condition it is in for its age... It will be in a worn and used condition... Please bear this in mind when you bid as dealing with time wasters who expect brand new from me and want to return items for being used is getting a little tiring..
