Antique Whitework Embroidered Shawl / Caplet.
Approx. 1860's
This gorgeous piece is densely embroidered with a floral motif. Featuring heavy padded satin stitches and pulled thread work. Cotton muslin / possibly a silk blend - butter soft. Antique White (it is not a bright white)
Collar: 13.5" Inches by 2" inches.
Shawl Cented Back (from collar seam to edge): 14.75" inches.
Shawl Lapel (from collar sean to edge):14.4" inches.The piece is not in perfect condition and a...ppears to have been repaired (in different degrees) over its lifetime. Most of the damge is at the collar seam and along the heavily embroidered edge ( causing it to become worn). Scattering of small holes throughout.
