"Bisbeeite" Shattuckite, Chrysocolla, & MalachiteShattuck Mine, Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona, USA8.1cm x 5.9cm x 3.6cm
Description/Interesting Notes: A fine and rich example of this rare material from the type locale in Arizona!!! Although "bisbeeite" is no longer an accepted mineral according to the IMA (due to it being poorly defined or needing further study) it is thought to be a pseudomorph of shattuckite after malachite!!! ... In any case, this is a particularly fine and rich example of this rare material!!! This specimen is comprised almost entirely of "bisbeeite", present as a large mass of intergrown, acicular crystals that range in color from light green to turquoise blue!!! The acicular crystals are much more apparent and defined upon close study!!! In addition to the "bisbeeite" crystals there are intergrown balls of blue shattuckite as well as some fine, primary malachite crystals!!! The malachite crystals exhibit sharp, glassy faces with marked translucence!!! This specimen is unique and attractive in person, and fascinating upon close inspection with a loupe or scope!!!
