Up for auction is this classic Futaba single channel set, including transmitter, receiver and escapement. These sets were first offered for sale in about 1968, and pre-dated the advent of digital proportional radios. I found this set at a swap meet, with plans to build an Ambroid Charger as the platform for this radio. Alas, other projects have taken priority, and I don't have the equipment or the skill to get the radio working correctly. Attaching a frequency counter to the transmitte...r antenna shows the proper signal out (26.995 MHz) when the transmit key is pressed. However, the receiver does not respond unless you make a direct connection from the transmit antenna to the receiver antenna. When you do that and press the tranmit button, the "signal received" light bulb on the receiver illuminates, and the escapement activates. The problem may be related to the battery requirements, about which I know nothing. The receiver/escapement battery holder seems clearly to be designed to hold 2 AA batteries, for a power supply of 3 VDC. The transmitter came with a simple snap-on connector suitable for a 9 V transistor battery. However, I have doubts that a 9V battery provides enough current to power the transmitter. I located a battery holder designed to carry 6 AA batteries, with the hope that the resulting 9V power source would have the muscle to drive the transmitter, but no luck so far. Also, the transmitter and receiver each have a tuning coil, and I have no idea how to adjust them.
