Original Description:
length & width of blade.....35" long - 1-1/8" wide at ricasso -  the blade has a wide groove for most of its length with a narrow groove above.  Obverse side of ricasso marked "US  A.D.K  1861".  Reverse ricasso marked: "Made by - AMES MFg Co. CHICOPEE, MASS."on a scroll.
overall length...................  41"
condition of blade.........… mostly bright with black speckling - a couple of tiny "nail catcher" nicks on the edge - no bends, cracks, ...abuse or fatal flaws.  Overall very good to excellent condition.  A little polishing would probably bring it to near mint.  
condition of tang......…..... as made,   lap forged welded, end of tang appears to have never been peened over
scabbard..........................none, this listing is for a blade only.   
Blade is as found.  Rare opportunity to own an unmounted Ames M1860 Cavalry saber blade.  It is in above average condition.
