The german Army was completely surprised by the use of British tanks. To have an effective defen...se here, anti-aircraft guns were used for anti-tank defense. Subsequently, captured British tanks with German sovereign badges used on the battlefield. The Tank Fight Badge was donated on 13 July 1921 by the then Reichswehr Minister Otto Geßler for the achievements of the German tank soldiers in the war.
The highly oval badge, which was worn as a badge on the left chest, is surrounded by a wreath of oak (left) and laurel leaves (right) and surmounted by a skull with crossbones. The skull symbol was used by the armored forces of the Wehrmacht in World War II accepted.
