I just picked this up from the City of Waterford Fire Department. It was dedicated to the city's first Chief of Police Patrick O'Connor after he died in 1959. The dedication date is 1962.
The clock keeps accurate time and runs very quietly. There was a fair amount of latex paint around the edges of the clock housing, so I cleaned all that up, but a few remnants still remain.
There's a water stain on the face of the clock housing which is pretty obvious. It measures ro...ughly 5 inches long and 1 inch wide.
The clock itself measures 16X16X5 inches.
The hinges are brass and were covered with paint, so I removed them and soaked them in vinegar, and they cleaned up a little more than expected.
The clock works are standard Telechron B-2 and there's an additional motor mounted around the time adjust knob, which no doubt would have given the clock the ability to be remotely adjusted. It appears that the time adjustment motor was never wired in or used. (see photos)
The rear cover would have been mounted on a wall, and the clock would then have swung open for time adjustment. There are the original instructions located on the rear cover as well as that dedication to the late Chief Of Police.
Overall a nice piece and much larger than expected.
