Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutely stunning, old time example of malachite from this historic Russian locale!!! This specimen consists of a wonderfully aesthetic group of botryoidal malachite crystals that exhibit stunning luster and particularly fine green color!!! This classic material is superb, gem-quality material ...that is unlike malachite from any other locality in terms of its superior quality!!! In person, fine Urals malachite is immediately distinctive compared to those from other localities!!! It is surprisingly dense and hefty compared to malachite from other localities (this specimen almost has a galena-like heft in person!)!!! It was this historic material that was used to create the famous "Malachite Room" in the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg!!! This specimen exhibits a gorgeous range of rich and showy green hues with a luster that is simply stunning in person!!! The unusually fine lapidary quality of this material is readily apparent in the brilliant luster that these botryoids exhibit!!! In person the specimen's luster almost seems to be natural or brought about through some very delicate and careful polishing - perhaps though a century or more of handling!!! This specimen is AMAZING in person and is special even by Urals malachite standards!!! This specimen retains a historic George English label as well as an old, unattributed affixed catalogue number!!!The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
