The Ottoman war medalknown in Germany and Austria under the name of Iron Half-Moon
was founded on 1 March 1915 by Sultan Mehmed V.
It was given to members of the Ottoman Empire as well asmembers of its allies. (German soldiers)
In WW I about 25.000 German soldiers served asauxiliary troops or leaders in the Turkish Army.
The award of this medal was rare.
Hol...der of this medal enjoyed high reputation at the German troops.

This medal is a curved multipart construction with tworivets.German production.
Tughra and date clean cut out and added separately.Inside the crescent is the thugra or cipher of the decoration's creator,
Sultan Mehmed Reshad V, over the date 1333 AH (AD 1915)
