Early Lantern Marked with No 39 Railroad on brass (not magnetic) top cap. Brass cap has a small dent on one edge between the 9 of 39 and d of railroad  Rest of lantern is magnetic metal. Friendly Ebayer has identified this as a CT Ham lantern. Found a 1896 catalogue online and there it was advertised. Could not find any other markings, however I dont know how to loosen the bottom strap to remove the Font and burner. I think that a  little penetrating oil on the strap around t...he bottom might loosen it but I have never taken one like this apart. If you know what they call this type of base let me know. Some rust on top below the vent or smoke holes, see photo. Burner turn wheel is not marked, Globe is not marked either. Lantern measures approximately 11" tall to top of finial and 15 1/2 " to top of handle. Check out all the photos for condition. Email any questions before you bid. Please don't wait until the last minutes of the auction to ask questions as I may not be available to answer them on short notice. S & H will be 16.00 to US addresses. No International Sales.
