Lot of 2, exceptionally rare and original, 1890’s CDV size, Card Mount Photographs of of the French Consul to Hawaii Louis Pierre Vossion and the Office of the French Consul / French Embassy in Honolulu.
These very rare and original, Card Mount Photos each measure approx. 2 1/2" by 3 7/8" including the original, photographer's card mount. The Image came to us with a number of other 19th century Hawaiian Island and are among the first Photographs we have enc...ountered in 39+ years that feature 19th century European Ambassadors to the Hawaiian Islands.
The first of these Card Mount Photographs is a portrait Photo on the French Ambassador To the Sandwich Islands Louis Pierre Vossion. The second Photograph pictures the office of the French Ambassador (the equivilent of the French Embassy) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
These exceptionally rare and original, CDV size, 19th century Honolulu, Hawaii Photographs are both in excellent condition. Both Photos exhibit sharp focus, strong contrast and rich, warm tonality. Both the Photos and the card mounts are clean and crisp and exceptionally well preserved. The Photographs are affixed to a 19th century Album page as can be seen in the scans below.
