Antique Sessions BlackMantel or Shelf Clock, 8 day time and half hour strike, from about 1905, inexcellent working condition, named Fauntleroy. Original finish restored. Anunusual not often seen ‘portrait clock’. Features portraits of children dressed in 18th centurycostumes, in ornate oval frames. Theoriginal celluloid portraits are in excellent condition, with no damage. Clock also has dark green marbleized moldingsabove and below the portraits that wr...ap around the sides. There are also ornate handles and feet onthis clock. Metal trimmings are restored to their original antique gold finishwith metal sheet leaf, which is then given a protective finish. They will retain their luster and will notturn brown (as gold paint does after a couple of years). Original brass bezel andbrass centered dial polished and finished. Paper time track (numbers) is a replacement. Clock movement has just been overhauled, wornbushings and click springs replaced. Clockmovement has just been serviced (serviced means cleaned, lubricated, andbalanced), using only synthetic lubricants. Synthetic lubricants are superiorto standard petrochemical 'oils'. They have better lubricating qualities, arelonger lasting and do not discolor, smell or become gummy with age, requiringless frequent maintenance. This clock is in excellent condition, except for afew tiny dings usual with a clock of this age. Clock strikes hour on a cathedralgong and the half hour on a bell. Pendulum bob is an old replacement, key and wood back cover are new replacements.Dimensions: 18 inches wide, 7.25 inches deep, 11.5inches high. Clock may require minor adjustment aftershipping. Clock is balanced for a level surface and should be placed on alevel surface to run correctly.The clock will come with a set ofinstructions that will tell you how to set up and maintain it.
