CDV Civil War Era Carte de visite 13th Kansas 3 Armed soldiers I don't know if any of the soldiers are colonel Wheeler. Either way this comes from a very intimate album from his wife and are most likely from the 13th Kansas . Marry Wheelers (a Free-Soil Party woman) husband was lieutenantcolonel John Wheeler of Troy, Kansas, 13th Kansas This card comes from the album of Mary Willis Wheeler wife of Lt. Col. John B. Wheeler with the 13thK...S He was mustered into service for 3 years. In the census, he was alsolisted as a physician.Thecarte de visite may have hand written pencil identification by Miss Wheeler.Thiswould make a great addition to any Civil War or CDV collection. John Wheeler of Troy, Kansas, mustered into the 13th KansasInfantry as lieutenant colonel on September 20, 1862, at Atchison, Kansas, thesame date the regiment was organized. The regiment fought in the 1862 battlesof Newtonia and Prairie Grove. The 13th was involved in the capture of FortSmith and several other skirmishes and scouts in Missouri, Arkansas, and theIndian Territory, but also spent considerable time performing garrison duty.Wheeler mustered out on June 26, 1865, while the regiment wasmustered out on July 13, 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
