Handwritten letter dated Nov. 6, ’66.To Mr. E.B.FrenchLetter in part saysSir Mr. R.R. Britton maid (sic) out a claim for me in Aug 1865 for back pay and bounty for services rendered by him as a soldier.His name was John H Brown Co D 8th regiment Tennessee infantry who died in the Peble prison in South Carolina. I am very needy in need of money. We purchased an estate and included were lots of old papers from the 1800’s. This letter is folded, aged, and has colored pencil underlined parts as shown.
