Vintage Yellow Dog oil lantern. These were used on the oil wells before electric. They looked like yellow eyes across the fields at a distance. This rare example appears to be very nice to me. I have inspected this Yellow Dog and I do not find any cracks or breaks. No repairs. I cleaned out the inside and filled it with water. No leaks at all. The threads on the body and the lid are in very nice condition. The lid turns down very easy. It appears to have its original handle and lid. It... does have surface rust on the inside of the body and the spouts. I would recommend a light sandblasting and it should be just fine. The height of the body with the lid in place is 7 1/2 inches tall. The diameter of the body in 6 inches. You can use this Yellow Dog as it is or restore it to your standard very easy. It will need new wicks. Hard to find these with the original handle and lid in this condition. You are however buying this vintage item in AS IS condition.
