Kelly Slater inscribed, signed and dated surf board, 2011 Billabong Pipeline Masters Championship Used Surfboard. Winning his 11th World Championship Season in 2011.
The Pipeline Masters is the third of the Triple Crown Of Surfing events and the last contest in the pro circuit season. Kelly Slater locked his amazing 11th World Title just about a month earlier in Northern Calif, a feat probably impossible to ever repeat.
It has not officially been authenticated yet, PSA authen...tication certified always better and at least doubles the selling cost of one w/out the certificate, so for now the price is reflective without the certificate.
(I am moving right now so do not have time, as you can see it is ready for safe shipping back and forth to PSA, If not sold soon I will authenticate with PSA, but will put in auction probably at Christie's or a well established surf auction site like the one that just sold a brand new signed Kelly Slater surf board donated for charity for $28, 000 or was that here on ebay? whatever's right - thanks for understanding) the sale includes the brand new high quality board travel case, the USA made travel bag is actually made to carry up to two boards 6'6" or smaller
Surfboard Condition:
Pressure dents from feet and hands on deck. And one (1) compression fracture, 2 slightly indented lines going almost across the deck, right to left, at about 1/4 down from the top, but No damage through to the bottom. The one previous owner, laid a rough patch which prevented browning on the fracture line (but may have also thought about repair and re-use?), and a small piece of the tip of the nose broken off.
The fracture and nose damage was likely due to that 2011 Pipe Masters is still recorded as "the Biggest Pipe Masters in History" (FYI the waves were flat until the swell came in on the night before the first day, none of the contestants had any practice whatsoever, boards were snapping like twigs, online pics and videos show the contestants getting bloodied-up)
I read an article about Kelly and these 50 prototype boards: see the picture above, with the Red Circles and "TL" Team Light 3/4 4 + 4/4, that is the fiberglass cloth formula, 3/4 4 is the amount of layers of 4oz.cloth used on the deck, so 1 layer of 4oz. on the deck and the second layer of 4oz. going up from tail only 3/4 the way up leaving the last 1/4 way up with only a single layer of 4oz. cloth covering the foam core deck side, the (+)4/4 is the formula for only two layers of 4oz. cloth on the bottom, and a couple layers of resin all around. This explains the surface pressure dents on the deck and the fracture.
Removed all the wax and the blue rubber mat because could not read the whole thing Kelly wrote near the stringer, under the resin, and was very curious as to how much these ultra light prototypes weighed, came in at about 6lbs.
The inscription on the board "In Memory Of Sion - what a guy!" is just like "In Memory of Eddie Aikau Big Wave Surf Contest" and this Billabong Triple Crown Pipeline Masters will always be named the "Billabong Pipeline Masters Dedicated to Andy Irons", pls ask Kelly what he was dedicating, was it this his board, or was it dedicated to his just won 11th title season, or the 2011 Pipeline Masters Contest. ..?... either way, Kelly has class for the inscription.
Sion Milosky, chosen by Surfer Magazine, early 2011, as "Underground Surfer Of The Year", an award given to a surfer nominated by fellow surfers and chosen by professional surfers. Usually pretty well known, and usually shines on huge waves, unlike the pro circuit with all size waves.
Sion was just a natural, known for big wave surfing, working a self employed day job, supporting a young family, as an artistic Welder - working with iron to create beautiful custom fences and gates, then going surf whenever there is a chance. The Underground Surfer is chosen by his peers nominating him. His early choice was long boards, his favorite spot, Pipeline.
With Sion Milosky's "Underground"..." title in early 2011, came a $25, 000 check. He wanted to get a couple boards and surf Big Wave contests
Sion made surfing news a week later, he drowned at Mavericks... the regulars at big Mavericks were saying who is that guy surfing like a regular, taking off farther back than most would like and making them, he didn't make a section on a giant, a jet ski was out and some knew him, and saw his board teetering, then a second hold down broke (being held under for a second wave break) on his board, one surfer flagged the jet ski guy and was asking everyone if they saw him, his body was found a mile away in a short time, maybe same reason why they never found Mark Foo's body, mean under current.The Milosky Family has a home town Kauai surf day annually called "live like Sion" day. There are "live like Sion" bumper stickers and T's. I am sure the inscribed busted-up board was Not for the family funds, but more for a remember of Sion whenever people see it.

This board is Kelly Slater's last signed ASP/WSL contest used board, signed and dated on that same contest day (the infamous "Pipeline Masters", the last points contest of the season), during one of his Winning #1 World Champion Title Seasons.
Since 2011 was Kelly's last #1 World Champion winning season (11th title) for now, and he is getting older, now a succeeding business person, finding such a limited board for sale will become rare...
