THERE ARE PLENTY OF SHINIER SWORDS OUT THERE WITH SINGLE LOOP SCABBARDS BUT THOSE ARE ALL MADE POST CIVIL WAR IN THE 1870'S AND LATER. French Klingenthal Model 1822 light cavalry sabre 2-ring scabbard Civil War era.Civil War era Sword, commonly used on both sides. Blade marked on spine Coulaux Cie de la Klingenthal, denoting post 1836 manufacture. Bears no government inspection marks on the ricasso, as required for all blades issued to the French military. As such, it was manufact...ured for export by Coulaux, and sold in considerable numbers to military and private importers worldwide. Klingenthal blades are commonly seen in the context of the American Civil War, in use by both sides. Very solid condition throughout, with a very clean blade and tightly wrapped handle. Leather is intact on one side and worn a little on the other. Twisted wire wrap is intact. Scabbard has rust patches and is sturdy and sword locks in place. There are a few small rust holes as pictured but the scabbard is strong and heavy.
