Beddo, Ira: Of Marion, Illinois. Enlisted on August 10th, 1861, for three years service; mustered into service as a Private in Company D on August 12th, 1861; promoted to Sergeant on May 1st, 1862; promoted to First Sergeant on May 1st, 1863; mustered i...nto service as Second Lieutenant on July 15th, 1863, at Vicksburg, Mississippi, with rank from July 10th, 1863; mustered into service as First Lieutenant on November 10th, 1864, at Vicksburg, Mississippi, with rank from November 1st, 1864; mustered into service as Captain on December 22nd, 1864, at Memphis, Tennessee, with rank from November 18th, 1864; mustered out of service with the company on July 14th, 1865, at Baton Rouge, Louisiana. [At the time of his enlistment he was described as being 22 years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. tall, with black hair, black eyes, of a dark complexion, and was employed as a farmer.]
