From an estate in Glastonbury, CT, here is a very nice 7.5" by 3.5" receipt for a payment to a Horace A. Augur for having organized a volunteer militia that participated in the Union's taking of Fort Pulaski on April 11-12, 1862. It is dated just 13 days after the battle and is signed by well known Lieutenant Seagar S. Atwell of the 7th Regiment. These were volunteers from Connecticut affiliated with the 7th Division. The document is in nice s...hape with some light toning and perhaps a soft corner, but really very nice. It is addressed to Major William Fitch, Pay-Master-General of Connecticut. It is the third payment of ten dollars to Mr. Augur. Very nice document. See the photos as they are the best representation of the description. This would be a nice addition to any collection. Winner to receive free shipping via USPS Priority Mail. The document will be carefully packed. Thanks for stopping by!
