Original Description:
Large used envelope about 9 x 4 inches for shipping currency.  Adams Express Co., Western Division.  Written in pencil is “William Gold Paper.”  The 1860’s date is not filled in.  This envelope was sealed and opened.  It came with a book of Adams Express receipts all used by a company in Louisville, Kentucky and dated in 1864.  Cover is brown from age, a stain on reverse at one end.  Edge is torn when envelope was forcibly opened.  We have ...never seen another Adams Express envelope for currency.  A nice Civil War period display item.
