This auction is for a Vintage Don McDonald Sportlamp. The lamp has Flying ducks or Geese getting ready to land on water. It has a plaque on the back with signature and No 56. A very early number. Don McDonald hand sculpted the very first of these lamps in the basement of his house in Riverside Connecticut. He sculpted in clay first, made a sand cast mold, cast it in white lead, refined the sculpture by grinding and filing then cast it again in brass and again r...e-sculpted it. The base is solid walnut, polished with fine steel wool and reddish brown shoe polish. The original shade was purchased from and still made by W.N. De Sherbinin Products in Danburry Connecticut. The lamps were all limited editions and sold for about $495.00. The base measures approximately 16" wide, 9" deep. The height adjusts between 26" and 29" to the top of the finial. The lamp weighs 14 pounds 10 ounces. The lamp works fine and is in very good condition with two scuffs on the base. I show a closeup in the last photo. I think stain would hide it. This is an "As-Is" auction so please see all photos and feel free to ask questions. This wonderful lamp would be great for the hunter in the family.
I have included 3 types of shipping you can choose the one you prefer.
