Antique Indian Polychrome Painted Pottery Serving Bowl Isleta Zuni Hopi Pueblo
This bowl is a mystery to me. When I first found it, I thought it might be Mexican but the colors of the polychrome paint and the designs looked more native American to me.
The base glaze is a smokey gray on the outside with faint tan interior and I saw some Zuni and Isleta patterns with the same colors as this bowl has. I also saw a Zuni bowl with the exact sa...me shape & with the same type of cut out handles.
It has a reddish clay beneath the glaze and it is not signed in any way which leads me to believe that it is very old and maybe it was sold along side of a highway to tourists.
No chips or cracks apparent, some minor flaking away of the glaze on exterior. Any corrections are welcomed to my title and description. Thanks for looking.
