Early Vintage Disston & Sons Miter Box & 28" backsaw. Very Usable Condition. This antique tool is made of steel with obvious wear, but all hardware is in good shape. The miter box measures approximately 36" long × 12" wide × 6" high. This top quality miter box has many adjustments and the screws and levers all work great. The angle markings and numbers are very legible and the saw creates very fine, smooth mitre cuts. The saw was expressly made for Goodell-Pratt Company, Ford...smiths, Greenfield-Mass, U.S.A. and is 28" long and 6" wide. The saw has age spots, but no rust is evident on the saw or the miter box. The saw slides very fluently and seems to be adequately sharpened. The wood handle was created in a laborious fashion ensuring a sturdy grip with no cracking or splitting. The Keystone Saw & Tool Works, the maker of the Disston saw, was established in 1872 and was at one time the largest maker of fine saws in the world. The company has a reputation for their high-quality saws and tools as well as other steel products. This saw and miter box is great for all projects large and small and especially for the purist looking to use older tools and equipment for unique projects. It is ready to ship in a custom crate.
