Two twins lived in America, but their grandparents lived in Germany. So their father picked one twin only to travel with him on a steamship to visit her grandparents. While in Germany, the grandparents purchased dolls for both twins. These two dolls are the last of that collection. Beautiful, large, and perfect German half doll twins on porcelain shoes (shoes were attached by the girls some years after their grandparents purchased them) came to the USA in a little twin's cargo trunk on... a steamship just days before WWI began. Years later, her daughter, at 72 years old stated her mother (the twin on the steamship) could see warships off in the horizon from the deck of the steamship. The dolls stayed in the family until I purchased them, and now it is time for them to continue their adventure together - always together.
