This is a small but distinctive and impressive Batchelder studio pottery tile.The motif is the opposing birds perched on a leafy branch, their backs rounded to form a medallion. Birds facing each other is a recurring theme for the artist but the high gloss finish of this piece is more of an exception because he favored matte more than anything. The other fact is that he did work with some associates. This tile is app 9 cms square and at least 2 cms thick; it is ...quite heavy for its size - 13.6 oz. It is unmarked; it is in excellent condition. Buyer is advised to research all information provided and to examine photos closely.
