WW2 US Naval Aviation Type G-1 Leather FLIGHT JACKETUS Gov't BU (AER) Naval Bureau of Aeronautics cut WW2 vintage(comes with quality reproduction USN AF-31 Felix the Cat squadron patch)
-Made in the *USA*(NOT a civilian aftermarket! NOT a cheap asian knock-off!)
-WW2 US NAVY US MARINE CORPS Aviator's issued flight gear FLIGHT JACKET-Salty! Naturally leather stressed! NOT that faked stonewashed w/ phony holes jeans look.-from my own leather flight jacket personal collection.......one of the last G-1s
WW2 vintage features (see HELL BENT for LEATHER below):-rust color real MOUTON fur collar: right side tip has two small bald spots, back collar...one tiny bald spot.-two direction (aka rib-rack or combined) knitted waist band weave:
100% chocolate brown wool....has a few small moth holes
-FULL shoulder bi-swing pleats that go all the way down to the rear built-inwaist belt (postwar version do NOT!....read below)-'U.S.N.' property stencil marked on reverse side collar.....postwar versions had the U.S.N.punched in the zipper wind vane-lower pocket flap edges are 'gullwing' curved-angled.....postwar versions were standardized to a straight acrosscut at the beginning of the Korean War (see Parsons/Nelson below).
Missing one pocket flap button....easy to replace.
-fade 'purple' full satin lining....has tear above the contract label
-has full sized 'GENERAL' brand zipper head (added pull assist)....suggests late 1940's
heavy duty brass zipper line....NO broken teeth, NO corrosion, NO hang-ups!!!
-cloth label: A.PRITZKER & SONS Inc. MFG, has contract and specs nonmenclature
AVIATOR'S FLIGHT JACKET, FLYING, TYPE G-1 SPECs:
-early thicker heavier quality GOATSKIN leather shell.....feels unlike the modern'drapier' goatskin used in current reproduction.
goatskin is rated the 2nd highest durable leather.
-salty usage wear stressed in the right places.
-leather dye is SEAL BROWN
-has wear stress highlights especially in the shoulders....but NOT worn thru in any places!PERFECT salty appearance.
-inner vertical slit pocket with single button snap closure-built-in waist belt....with bi-swing pleats going right down to it.
-real Mouton rust color fur collar....properly zig-zagged stitching
on the underlay....'8' stitch line attaching fur collar-single button throat closure leather tab
-sectional constructed armpits w/ ventilation grommet eyelets-Chocolate brown 100% wool knitted cuffs and waistband:has significant tattering, some mothing....but mainly cloth pullingand snags. one cuff has spot where period repair was done....these can be professionally replaced.
-both CUFFS and WAISTBAND are 100% original to the jacket....NOT replaced.
SIZE:I wear a 44R to 46R (men's).....and this feels like a 46R.to be safe.....between a 44R and 46R
shoulder: 19.5"armpits: 23.5"sleeve (shoulder seam to edge of leather cuff): 24"sleeve (shoulder seam to edge of knit cuff): 26"(sleeve measurement straight down....does NOT account for the 'arm-angle-bow')
