Hereis a lovely antique piece of cameo (Mary Gregory) cobalt blue glass vase with ahighly detailed hand painted image of a lady holding a fan. The vase is 7inches tall and 2 7/8 inches across at the base. Mary Gregory (1856–1908) wasan American artist known for her decoration of glass products at the Boston andSandwich Glass Company in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She was particularly wellknown for her paintings of Victorian Era children, and such artwork has beenreferred to as Mary Greg...ory since the 1920s. The glass most likely came fromBohemia, England, or Italy. Despite this, many glass art enthusiasts continueto refer to such pieces as Mary Gregory. Glassware in the style of Mary Gregory continued after her tenure at the Boston and Sandwich glass factory from 1880to 1884.
