26" PRITZLAFF Hardware Warranted Superior Crosscut Saw by Everkeen . I have it on good authority that this saw was manufactured by EVERKEEN for the PRITZLAFF Hardware Company of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Everkeen made saws for PHC from 1850 to 1958 so this saw more than likely made some time from 1895 to1958 given that it was never punched or drilled for flush, screws and nuts. I did not receive the saw with its original handle. I know because the plate had several superfl...uous holes some rather large and most were irregular. The handle it came with did not cover the entire inset of the heel, so I found one that almost covers it all down to about a 4th of an inch angular space (not visible in any of the pics). Unfortunately the handle had a rather nasty crack in the upper horn which I repaired but is still visible (see pics 11 &12). I was also unable to locate any Everkeen medallions so I used a Warranted Superior which was more than likely what Everkeen used in the first place. I scraped and sanded the handle clean and coated it with BLO only. The screws, nuts and medallion are solid brass polished to a medium shine. I was able to identify the saw from the distinctive etching (see pics 2&3). To give you a better idea of exactly what it says I made an approximational likeness of the etching (see pic 4). The plate has also been cleaned free of rust, polished to a reflective shine, and coated with an automotive finish protectant to inhibit rusting. There is a nice patina and only the tiniest bit of very minor rust pitting (very shallow pinholes). The Saw performs excellently! Cuts smooth, straight, and fast with minimal strokes. It's stamped as an 8ppi and measures as an 8ppi. It also measures aprox. 6.5" tall at the heal, 1.66" at the toe, and just shy of 26" long. This is one of the highest quality saw plates I have ever worked on. Every bit as good or better than a Disston (and I believe Disstons are the finest production saws ever made). All handsaws are sharp and straight.
