Vintage JAPANESE BANGASA Umbrella Or Parasol - - 33 " Diameter, Bamboo Handle

I don't see any type of manufacturing identification on this umbrella, so all I can tell you is it appears to be Japanese - or at least Asian - in origin, with a bamboo handle and a brightly painted floral design on the canopy. The canopy appears to be made of some kind of heavily oiled or treated fabric, and the ribs - 27 of them, if I've counted right - are split bamboo, as are the two catches that hold it open. The canopy has a diameter of about 33", and the total length ...from the handle to the tip is about 27". And I believe the floral design is hand-painted.I'm afraid I have no idea how old it is, or what dating clues to look for. When I use the term "Bangasa" in the title, for instance, I really don't know whether that's what it is, and I specifically haven't tested whether it's waterproof enough to be used as an umbrella or if it's only suitable as a parasol or stage prop.It is in excellent condition, with no damage that I can see and very little sign of use and wear.International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.
