Eckertin railroad/telegraph company litigation. CONOVERJohn Livingston Conover of Freehold died at his residence at Wickatunk, MonmouthCounty, NJ on Sunday evening, February 25, 1917. Conover was born near Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey on February 21, 1849, and was a member of a family long settled andprominent in that region.He was a son of Alfred LivingstonConover and Eleanor S. Conover, and a descendant of Wolfertz Gerritse VanKouwenhoven, who came from Holland to the ‘New Netherlands’ in 1630.Conover was educated at the FreeholdInstitute, and at the age of twenty one years engaged in banking at Freehold, NJ. Later he was examiner of real estate titles.A member of the class of 1878 of theNew York University, he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Law andadmitted to the bar of New York in June 1878, and in New Jersey at the FebruaryTerm 1880. He became a counselor four years later.In 1881 he entered the service of theCentral Railroad Company of New Jersey in its Law Department located in theCentral Bulding, 143 Liberty Street, New York City.
