A particularly rare example of early English pottery. A lovely cup and saucer, made of lead glazed earthenware specifically creamware ca 1775. The set is hand painted with a scene of a man and woman playing instruments that look like clarinets. The style and color is similar to examples made in Leeds and decorated at the workshop of David Rhodes, although it could also have been made in Staffordshire by any number of different potteries. A scarce example. Size: saucer 5" in di...ameter. Cup 3 1/2" in diameter. Condition: Both cup and saucer with breaks re-glued. Please examine pics carefully.
