Hello. Here we have an original Warner Bros. Cartoons Inc. director's lead sheet for the 1948 Daffy Duck cartoon 'The Upstanding Sitter'. Director's lead sheets are used by the director to assign scenes to the animators. This sheet was used by Robert McKimson who directed this cartoon and every bit of it was filled out by him in pencil. My father actually knew Bob McKimson and got this from him in 1977. At that time, my dad was working on a book, and got some fantast...ic items from Mr. McKimson to be included in the book, or used for research. My dad was also the last person to interview him before he passed later that year. Book was never completed.
No certificate or anything with this. If you've been following my auctions for awhile, no doubt you've seen some of the other fantastic Warner memorabilia that I've listed in the past. Check my other listings for some good stuff this week!
This director's lead sheet measures 12"x25" and has yellowing of the paper and some edge wear and some light wear from handling. Has chipping at center left side edge. See photo#4. Has light diagonal crease in top portion. Has a single pinhole at top edge area. Left lower corner has tip missing. Very displayable piece with all of it filled out in Robert McKimsons' signature handwriting. Please look at photos closely and ask any ? before bidding. This is one of only 4 of these I have left and all 4 are listed this week.
