This gem is a small unfinished wooden ventriloquial figure head that was created by that late great puppet maker Frank Marshall. This is his close up figure that he called Tommy Knotts. I was very close to Frank in his later years and got a small number of these heads, which he never finished, from his sister Mae after Frank passed away. When they’re gone they’re gone. Tommy Knotts was particularly popular during WWII with vents who were in the service as he was small enough to ge...t into their duffle bags with all of their other things. There were a number of Tommys imbedded with the troops during those dark times, bringing a little laughter to our soldiers. John Arvites
