Vintage massive French hammered copper jam pan – Very rare - Dovetailed welds
Manufacture according to traditional techniques
It was not molded as the other jam-pans whom you usually see.
To make it, the craftsman took 3 brass plates, that he hammered at first time (Hammering in fish scale, hand-made).
Then he formed plates to join them, and finally he made a weld in the former (“soudure en queue d’arronde” Dovetailed Weld ).
This required many ...working hours, and it is not anymore made for a very long time.
Soon this jam-pan will be untraceable …
I have completely cleaned it and removed the varnish of protection.
It is in perfect condition, and can be directly used
There are little points of oxide but without gravity
Very rare
Handle in brass
