Oistrakh Trio/Archduke Columbia B/S SAX 2352
Item History & Price
This SAX is nice and flat and there are no obvious scratches under normal daylight.
SIDE ONE starts with minor ticks for a few seconds. There are then 6 isolated ticks at intervals, though three of them are almost too light to be significant.
SIDE TWO has lost its surface shine... - so it is DULL for about the first centimetre from the edge. (I can only guess that someone spilled something on it, then cleaned it too vigorously, many years ago.)
There is intermittent, light patter during the first 25 seconds of play on this side;
then 5 ticks after a few minutes, followed by more light patter for about 8 seconds;then there are 4 more separate ticks at intervals.
During the 'patter' on side two, the violin, cello and piano all sound perfectly okay to my ears. If you can tolerate the flawed patches described, it is easy to enjoy the wonderful music and I would guess that the vinyl is quiet for at least 80% of both sides. The last centimetre of side two is fine. The jacket has labels stuck to it as shown in the photo.
