Grateful Dead DICK’S PICKS VOLUME 1 & Mickey & The Hartbeats Tie Dye Vinyl 7 LPs
Item History & Price
This is a bundle of Grateful Dead LP’s that includes a couple of very rare records and a couple of not so rare records. First up is the very rare first Dick’s Picks record release. This was a numbered limited edition of just 2000 copies. This set is number 121. It is a four lp box set and contains the Grateful Dead show from Tampa Florida on Dec. 19, 1973. It was the first show put out by Dick Latvala and was picked for the rarity factor as the show had not been traded s...o was something Deadheads hadn’t heard before. It contains most of the show but I don’t think it’s a complete show. I think one or two reels of tape were missing and still haven’t been found even though many other great shows have been discovered in the last decade or so. The records are all NM as is the box and record sleeves. The distressed look of the outer box is intentional. Next up we have a show featuring Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart titled Mickey and the Hartbeats. Can You Pass the Acid Test? There was a short time when the Dead considered kicking Bobby and Pigpen out of the band and they did a few shows under the monicker Mickey and the Hartbeats in order to see how things would play out. Some have TC but I don’t think this one does. Obviously they decided to keep those guys and it’s a good thing they did judging from this show. It is from the Matrix in SF on Oct. 30 1968. It is on tie dye splatter vinyl and looks pretty cool. This is more a collectors item and probably not something you’ll want to play more than once.Next up we have the Grateful Dead’s very first album. This is a rare copy of the album from the early to mid 70’s. It is on the WB palm tree Burbank label. The album is in VG+ condition with no noticeable scratches and a nice glossy sheen to the vinyl. The cover is in VG- condition with some seam splitting especially across the bottom of the jacket. I am also including a VG+ copy of Workingman’s Dead with the white WB label. This is a repress from 1978. Vinyl is VG+ with a glossy surface and no noticeable scratches. The jacket is VG- with a slightly chewed upper left corner. Other than that it’s in excellent condition.Shipping will be $6 for media mail for all seven albums and $15 if you want priority service. Thanks for looking and check out my auctions for another bundle of records including a sealed copy of the Sunshine Daydream Veneta show in 1972.
