Antique Transferware Polychrome Ironstone Teapot Morley Aurora Staffordshire
Item History & Price
The pattern features a base decoration of Victorian Scrolls and Flowers in Purple Transferware highlighted with flourishes of green, blue, and yellow hand applied under the glaze.
The teapot measures 8 1/2 inches tall, including the lid's neatly designed acorn finial, and is 9 1/2 inche...s wide from spout to handle. The piece is a Rare Find and Displays Wonderfully. It is in Very Good condition, especially for its age.The colors are rich and bold.
There are no chips or cracks or damage with the exception of a short cosmetic firing line in the body of the pot that was done in the manufacturing process (last photo). The lid has some toning from age (photo 11).
The piece is not marked but was clearly made by Francis Morley in the mid 1800s in the company's Aurora pattern.I am selling many other antique Staffordshire items -- including many other pieces in this Aurora Pattern -- and will combine shipping whenever possible.
