Original Description:
Offered is a fine antique Georgian free blown glass square decanter that has been copper wheel engraved with a crowned monogrammed marriage crest on one side and  conjoined coats of arms on the other. The arms are above the Latin motto Spes Alit Agricolam (Hope Nourishes the Farmer). Historically this is the motto of the Tillman and allied families. The detail and quality of the engraving is exceptional. This form of decanter would have been used in a fitted traveling liquor chest.... Interesting construction details include the recess where the shoulder joins the neck, and the applied band at the top of the neck to keep it from slipping out of your hand. There are no signs of this ever having had a glass stopper. Excellent condition.  Measures 9 1/4” in height.
