We are pleased to offer for your consideration of this very beautiful heavy brass handmade star of David plate. It’s wonderful to find a piece like this because although we can never fully prove how it got here, we can guess. This plate was found in the Alps region and this was a huge area for the resistance during World War II. Every small town has its list of brothers or sons of France who fought during World War II against the Nazis and died. I have to wonder if this was not a pie...ce brought here by a Jewish person in exile. The mountains were a great place to hide it because there were so many places that were unknown and hard to reach. It’s a hard history here and you can feel it in the mountain people. Many Jews were hidden here. A beautiful piece like this it is completely handmade had to of been valuable to its owner. Although France was formally occupied by Germany the Alps were never truly occupied. They put up a fight till the end and had a fair measure of success. I’m hoping someone will buy this piece who really connects with it. Possibly someone whose life was impacted by the war. Thank you for your consideration. Practical information the plate is 12 inches across and in good condition. We did that polish it at all because I did not know what kind of patina the future owner wanted. Brass cleans up nicely but maybe you would like it to be more rustic looking.
