SUMMER SALE! Antique Vintage Copper Swell Bodied LARGE GRASSHOPPER Weather vane top with Green Eyes. NICE! Great, old all copper grasshopper! The Grasshopper weathervane is the traditional symbol of Boston! The first, original grasshopper weather vane was made for the top of Faneuil Hall in 1742 by Shem Drowne. This is a wonderful antique / vintage folk art 2 ft long grasshopper. I believe the eyes are glass. It is two-sided and is hollow-bodied and about 1 - 1 1/2" thick an...d is solid copper, even the antennae. He comes with the black metal stand, as he was found. I would guess it to be circa 1940. It is a BEAUTIFULLY detailed sculpture to display inside or use on your directional vane! There is nothing wrong with him. Nothing broken, damaged, or missing. Length is 2 feet; height of grasshopper only is 2 feet. Stand (by itself) is 19" high. Shipping in the continental US is by packaged weight; or free pickup in RI.
