Each of thesewonderful hand crafted early 19th century lids has a slightly domedprofile, peened mortise joint attaching the figures and some surprisingchiseled/hammered details in the eyes and features. The roster example measures 3 ½” tall x 5 3/8”diameter with 3 ¼” x 3 3/8” rooster finial. The 2 ¾” x 5 ¾” dove lid has faint line decoration on the perimeter anda 2 ½” x 4 ½” dove handle. They have spentover a century near flames and show pronounce...d pitting that is typical of sheetiron from this era. The surfaces arescrubbed with light rust and no bad fat accretions.
