Cedar Model Totem Pole by late artist Harry Williams Sr. from the Nootka First NationThis Totem Pole is really a piece to show off, it makes every room. It's hand carved out of a solid piece of red cedar. Handpainted, traditional colors used. (...and FREE shipping to US/CANADA)It shows the Thunderbird with Whale spiritabove the Bear by Harry Williams Sr.It's an older piece - it does show some minorsigns of gentle handling and aging. It comes from the Nootka (Nuuh-chah-nulth)First Natio...ns, originating from Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada's Pacific Northwest Coast.This piece is not signed, but very easy recognizable as a piece from the Williams family, who isworld wide known for their totem poles - just a fabulous example by one of theseniors of the family. Estimated age is 1960-70's.Measurements: 37 1/2" tall, Pole is8" x 5 1/2", wingspan 35", the base is 7 1/2" x 7 1/2"The artist: Nuu-chah-nulthartisan Harry Williams (1920-1972) was born in Seattle. His father Wilson Williams movedwith his family to Seattle earlyin the 20th century. Sam Williams, Harry's grandfather, moved to the USA toavoid that his children were forced to attend the residential school system in Canada.Under the tutelage, of his father Wilson, Harry became a well known andrespected Totem Pole carver in the American North West. In the 1950's he movedback to Canada wherehe later married Maria Newfield.
