Item History & Price

This type of jacket is intended for shooting in t...he prone position. It is designed to fit extremely tight to provide a very stable firing position. The wearer would put the jacket on and have his buddies zip it and tighten the leather tension straps as tightly as possible. This is the same exact make and model jacket used by Carlos Hathcock during the same period. Hathcock used his jacket extensively after he was badly burned in Vietnam. It is said that he would have the tension straps tightened until he bled from his poorly healed burns.
This jacket is in remarkable condition. All of the straps are intact and function as intended. The stout zipper works without issue. The shooting pads are in good shape, showing only normal minor wear that is to be expected. The very heavy suede leather is as soft and supple as was intended. The jacket is clean and has no funky smells. The size is 36. The length of the jacket, measured from the collar to the bottom, is 28.25". The sleeve from the cuff to the shoulder is 22.5". The shoulder-to-shoulder measurement is 17.5". Please look over the pictures carefully and let me know if you have any questions. Reasonable offers are always welcome and always considered.
