Samoan Woven Fine Mat Lavalava. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.Soft and plyable woven mat is the traditional lava (wrap around waist clothing). Today it is replicated by flowery sheets of cotton and worn in traditional dances.This piece is in very good condition and is woven of soft and thin fiber harvested and tooled by hand in Samoa. It is truly large and suited to fit extra large waist for traditional wear: measuring 6 feet long and 4 ft-8 inches wide. Bordered b...y orange and red yarn and feathers. Tapered fit is larger around waist than around legs.It has been boxed and stored as originally folded by the craftsman. It is suitable for framing or hanging. It may be flattened for framing by pressing flat in a humid environment.No defects or decay by environmental or pests.Appx 50 years old.
