Broad Face Kachina Doll 16" Signed Handmade by Navajo Artist in New MexicoBroad Face is a Guard Kachina. When they appear during processions or ceremonies they function as warriors. They surround and protect the more sacred Kachinas. They are sometimes called the Angry Kachina or Watching Kachina because of their roles. This Kachina Doll is 16 inches tall with a feather in one hand and a feather and yucca sticks in the other . His body is black a...nd white with pale pink leather trim on wrists, waist and ankles. His leather costume is beautifully detailed with hand painted image of the "End of Trail" on a cream background. His headdress is carved wood with horns surronded by feathers. His shoulders and ankles have a collar of white rabbit fur. This figure is carved from wood and is hand painted. The bottom of the piece is signed by Navajo artisan Theodore Bryan of New Mexico.This is a new item and has been stored in a smoke-free studio. It ships in a box from New Mexico to U.S. addresses only.
