HERE IS A CLASSIC NAVAJO RUG / W...EAVING FROM THE NAVAJO PEOPLE, DATING FROM ABOUT 1975 (1970-1980), HAND WOVEN WITH A SUPER FINE WOOL WARP AND WEFT. THE WHITE, BLACK, BROWN, BEIGE AND GREY WOOLS ARE NATURALLY CARDED SHEEP'S WOOL COLORS, WHILE THE OTHER COLORS ARE HAND DYED WOOLS WITH COMMERCIAL DYES. THE PATTERN IS A CLASSIC TREE OF LIFE PATTERN, IT IS A REFINED AND VERY WELL DONE WEAVING!
THIS IS A CLASSIC NAVAJO WEAVING WHICH DISPLAYS VERY WELL AS A WALL HANGER- (SEE PICS).

The size of this textile is approximately 20" X 16", with a hand spun wool warp of about 10, and a hand spun Wool Weft of about 40 (tight and fine weave!). A beautifully designed, well constructed piece of Native America! EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR AGE (Please see all pics!): The wools within this rug are in great condition, still have luster and sheen, and the weaving is structurally sound. There is NO Fading, NO Dry/Rotted Wool, and NO Holes or Snags. The End Selvage Cords are 100% present (a braid of two, 2-ply brown wool cords), and the side selvage warps are 100% intact and present with no fraying or loss to side edges. The corners are in excellent condition, and three out of four corner ties are present (see pic of corners).
This weaving and the Raised Outline Storm Pattern currently listed were woven by a weaver with last name of Yazzi, this was verbally reported when purchased in Flagstaff. It does not detract from the presentation of the weaving and is barely noticeable - you can return of course if this bothers you. JB
