A 1900's Edwardian quilt in the Aunt Lucinda's Double Irish Chain pattern.Size - 72" x 73-1/2"Identification of this pattern can be attributed to Clara Stone in her 1906 booklet, "Practical Needlework: Quilt Patterns".Aunt Lucinda's Double Irish Chain is a Sash & Block type pattern. The 10" x 10" cream blocks are not pieced. The borders between the blocks are barn red & cream squares - 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" each. Narrow cream binding.Batting - thin. When held direct...ly in front of the light, it is possible to see tiny dark dots in the batting. Don't panic - these are not bugs! Rather they are old cotton seeds caught in the batting.Backing- creamQuilting - hand-quilted w/11 stitches per inch. Solid cream blocks are quilted in a diamonds pattern - red & cream blocks in vertical lines or squares. in a pattern of curved lines. Condition - cutter. This quilt is not a total mess, but it does have enough damage to put it into the cutter category. There are a few rips at the end, small small scattered holes & some light spots. Bindings are slightly frayed. There is a lot of good patchwork & fabric left in this quilt - but, it is in CUTTER condition.AUNT LUCINDA'S DOUBLE IRISH CHAIN - A SASH AND BLOCK EDWARDIAN QUILT.NEW SALE PRICE!30May19 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jill Ross Vintage Clothes & Dolls.Look in our STORE for a large selection of vintage clothes, antique textiles, vintage dolls & books.
