Original Description:
Unique Antique "J. Russell, Green River Works" Carving Knife. This knife was made from high carbon steel in Greenfield, Massachusetts by the J. Russell & Co., whose factory was situated along the Green River. The company started in 1832-34 to make butcher and kitchen knives. Based on some recent information - this knife was made in the 1800's, and was probably broken and reground for use as a patch knife. 
The knife has a pewter and ebony handle, and is in ve...ry good condition. The overall knife is 7" long, with the blade measuring 3 1/4". It has a full tang, with 3 pins. The outer pins have great detail work with a circular pattern. It has black wood handles, which are still in great shape.
