Check out my E-Bay Store for High Grade Vintage Baseball Coins and Pins! In 1955, Armour inserted a plastic "coin" into packages of hot dogs. A raised profile of a ballplayer is on front along with the player’s name and team. On back, between a diamond diagram and crossed bats are name, team, position, birthplace and date, batting and throwing preference, and 1954 hitting or pitching record. The coins measure 1-1/2" in diameter and are unnumbered. They can be found in a variety of co...lors, some of which are much scarcer than others and elicit higher prices from Armour specialists who have studied their relative scarcities. Values shown are for coins in the most common colors (aqua, blue, green, orange and red). Each 1955 coin can be found in two different "bust tilts" in which the tip of the cap and back point of the bust point to distinctly different areas of the rim. These variations are too arcane for the average collector. The complete set price includes only the most common variations. These coins are similar to the Topps, Old London, Chips, Jello, Armour, Salada and Shirriff coins in the 1960’s but are much scarcer because they were issued in boxes of Hotdogs.
