A PSA AUTHENTIC - 1948 Bowman Rookie card of Hall of Famer George Mikan of the Minneapolis Lakers. This is the more difficult to find "Missing Red Ink" variation that does not feature any of the red printing on the front of the card as is found on the regular version of this card. The "Missing Red Ink" variations are most noticeable on cards that feature red backgrounds (which have a slate gray background instead). The differences on the cards with blue backgrounds are more subtle..., typically missing the red outlining on the lettering or trim of a player's jersey. Most of these cards were available on un-cut sheets and then later cut apart, which is why most of the "Missing Red Ink" variations will receive an "AUTHENTIC" designation from PSA). Unfortunately, PSA missed the variation notation on the label for this card.This example has no creasing, bold printing, nice focus and clean borders. As mentioned previously, the card was hand cut from an uncut sheet (most likely decades ago), so the edges are very slighty uneven/wavy. Even so, the card still displays well. There is some light white "streaking" in a few places in the blue background behind the player. This is not uncommon for cards from this set, but the minor printing flaw does not interfere with the actual image of the player or detract too much from the eye appeal of the card. The corners are consistent with those found on most EXMT examples, with the exception of a very light touch of wear on the upper right corner. There is a light amount of chaffing on the lower portion of the left edge, but it does not detract too much from the overall eye appeal of the card. The back is clean with bold printing.
